Apologies for the lateness of this post – we have been waiting for Government advice which has NOT yet been sent – but didn’t want to make you wait any longer.
We are trying to make arrangements both for next week and in the longer term to provide care for those children identified by the Government as children of ‘key workers’ or ‘Vulnerable’ children.
The Government promised the list of “key workers” whose children may attend school next week today – this has not been given to us. These are the people LIKELY to be classed as key workers. It may be when the official list is finally released that some of these roles DO NOT qualify – or there may be more.
N.B. You have to be a single parent with no safe childcare, or have both parents as key workers to be able to send your child to school. If you are a key worker, but your partner or another adult in the house is not, they will have to care for your child at home.
This is the possible list of key workers:-
1.Health professionals working in the NHS
2.Armed forces and personnel
3.Care home workers
5. Police including PCSOs and civilian staff
6.Prison or probation staff
8.Supermarket delivery drivers
9.Teachers and school based support staff
Please don’t be offended when we ask for proof of your place and hours of employment – this is to help us to have a clear and accurate picture of the provision needed now and in future weeks.
‘Safe child care’ means not putting vulnerable people at risk i.e. over 70s and those with certain conditions (see Government Guidance)
If you think that your child is eligible to come into school next week, please complete the online form link below and return it by 12.30 tomorrow (Friday) so that we can make plans for next week.
Click on the link below, answer the 6 questions and click ‘submit’.
We will be in touch later in the afternoon tomorrow to confirm provision.
Pupils with an EHCP or who have a social worker would also be able to come to school. We know who these children are and will contact parents individually.
Next week, school will be open from 8.10 to 3.15 for pupils who are allowed to come to school.
These plans may then be altered, depending on further information from the Government or the Local Authority. Provision will also depend on available staffing in schools.
We are still waiting for information from the Local Authority about how we can support pupils eligible for Free School Meals – we will get that information to you as soon as we can.
Thank you as ever for your support - these are the strangest of times. We are doing our very best for the children of Long Knowle, and will continue to do so.
Your support really helps.
Look after yourselves, and each other.
