Good morning Year One!
We are at the end of the first week – already! I hope you have all had a productive week and made the most of the lovely weather.
Activities for the day! Phonics – Can you find the ‘igh’ sound on your sound chart? What is the action? Can you write a list of words using the ‘igh’ sound? Can you think of any other sounds we know that make the same sound? On the class handouts page, I have uploaded a game for you to play that gets you thinking about all the ‘igh’ sounds.
Spellings – Normally on a Friday we would do our spellings test. If you visit the website: https://spellingframe.co.uk/spelling-rule/146/33-Common-exception-words-1 you can practise and test yourself on some common exception words.
Maths – Following on from yesterday’s task. Today I have set you a game to play on Purple Mash. You need to race to the finish line by answering the number bonds to 10 questions correctly. Learn something new! - Today I am setting you a challenge! I have learnt something new this week – teaching online. Today I would like you to learn something new. It could be anything! You might learn to tie shoelaces, learn to sing a new song, learn a new dance, learn how to make a paper aeroplane, learn a new game or learn to make a sandwich – anything you like! I have set a 2do on Purple Mash, where you can draw a picture and tell me all about what you have learnt today.
Chester Zoo Virtual Zoo Today Chester Zoo are doing something very exciting. From 10am, on their Facebook page, they are opening their ‘virtual gates’ and giving tours of different enclosures. You can enjoy a day at the zoo from your sofa! They will be showing the giraffes, elephants, tigers, butterflies, penguins and more.
Thank you for all your hard work this week Year One! I hope you enjoy completing today’s activities and have a lovely weekend. Stay safe!
