Start of a new week!

Monday 27th April 2020

Good morning Year One!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and had lots of fun at home. I spent the day in the garden on Saturday, enjoying the lovely sunshine!

Here are your activities for the day. Please remember that this is only a guide. You need to find a routine that works for you. If you are struggling to complete these, have another look at the ‘Year One Activities and Website Links’ document on the class handouts page along with the 'Year One Suggested Home Learning Timetable'.

Find activities that you enjoy and suit you. Please don’t worry if you can’t complete all the ones I set - I am making sure that you have more than you need! It is a very uncertain time but we will get through this! You are all (parents included) working very hard, and I feel so lucky to have such a hardworking and dedicated class! We’re all in this together!

Activities for the day! – Phonics – Tricky Words This week, I would like you to focus on tricky words in phonics time. These are words that can’t be sounded out but appear lots in our reading books. I have uploaded some tricky word booklets to the class handouts page for you to work through this week. Don’t worry about completing every activity in each booklet. Try and aim for a page a day.

For phonics each day this week, have a go at this…

1. Recap sounds (using sound mats)

2. Practise reading tricky words – I have uploaded tricky word flashcards onto the class handouts page

3. Complete a page from an activity booklet

(This can all be found in the Phonics folder on the class handouts page) English – Postcards It has been over 5 weeks since we were all together. I am missing you all lots and I am sure you are missing your friends too. Today, your task is to write a postcard! This can be to myself or Ms Coleman or to a friend in our class. You can draw a picture and type a message about what you have been enjoying doing at home. I have set you a 2do on Purple Mash to complete this. Maths – Practise counting in 2s!

Science – Seasonal Changes Can you name the four seasons? What season are we in now? I have uploaded an activity to the class handouts page. This can be found in the Science folder. Your task is to draw and explain what you might see in Spring.

Don’t forget to also get some exercise! Take a look at the Go Noodle app for some indoor workout dances!

Hope you all have a lovely day!
