Friday 1st May 2020
Good morning Year One!
Today is the start of a new month – May. See if you can write today’s date. May is an easy month to spell as it can be sounded it.
Activities for the day! – Phonics – Tricky Words Today I would like you to continue working on Tricky Words. Remember these are words that we can’t sound out but appear lots in our reading books. All the resources you need are on the class handouts page, in the Phonics folder. Have a go at:
- Practising sounds (using sound mats)
- Practise reading tricky words (using tricky words flashcards)
- Complete a page from the tricky word booklets
Spellings – Complete the spelling quiz I have set on Purple Mash. Remember to use your phonics and listen carefully to the sounds you hear.
Maths – Can you count all the way to 20? Can you count in jumps of 2? Can you now count in jumps of 5? On Purple Mash I have set you a 2do practising counting in 5s. Remember when we count in 5’s we only say the numbers that end in a 5 or a 0. See if you can spot the pattern!
Fun Friday – Construction time! Your challenge for this afternoon is to construct something of your choice. This may be a farm, a house, a tower or even a car. Use your imagination! You could use blocks, Lego, playdough, paint or you could even use paper or cardboard. Make sure to take a picture once you have completed it!
Thank you for working so hard this week Year One. Have a lovely day, and a relaxing weekend - make sure you spend time doing things you enjoy!
