Good morning Year One,
I hope that you enjoyed completing yesterday’s activities. Well done to all the children that have been keeping up to date with the work on Purple Mash. I am really enjoying seeing all you super work!
Activities for the day!
Phonics – Can you find the ‘ai’ sound on your sound chart? What is the action? Can you write a list of words using the ‘ai’ sound? In the class handouts page, I have uploaded a short story. Can you read the story and find all the words that contain the ai sound.
English – Today I want you to pretend to be a pirate! What vocabulary do pirates use? I have set you a 2do on purple mash and I would like you to write some sentences using pirate words. For example pirates shout ‘Land Ahoy’ and call treasure ‘booty’. You have learnt lots of pirate vocabulary over the spring term but there are some words on the 2do to help you.
Maths – I have set you a 2do on purple mash – can you find all the number bonds to 10? (Eg: 1+9, 2+8, 3+7…)
Art - When pirates are sailing the sea they might come across lots of fish. I have set you a 2do on purple mash. Can you design a fish? Think back to our science lessons where we learnt about different types of animals. What does a fish look like?
Have a lovely day!
