Good morning Year One!
I hope you are ready for another day of learning. Well done to those that completed yesterday’s activities. I really enjoyed reading your lists about ‘What makes a good friend’. I have a class full of such kind children and they were lovely to read!
Activities for the day! – Phonics – Tricky Words Today I would like you to continue working on Tricky Words. Remember these are words that we can’t sounds out but appear lots in our reading books. All the resources you need are on the class handouts page, in the Phonics folder. Have a go at:
- Go through sounds (using sound mats)
- Practise reading tricky words (using tricky words flashcards)
Complete a page from the tricky word booklets
English – Spider Fact File This week you have read the story Sidney Spider. Your task today is to create a fact file for a spider on Purple Mash – I have set this as a 2do. Think carefully – What does a spider look like? What does a spider eat? Where does a spider live? Can you find an unusual fact about spiders? If you take a look on the class handouts page, in the English folder, you might find some facts to help you!
Maths – Spend some time on Numbots. We have been practising counting in 2s this week. Can you now count in jumps of 5? Here are some links to help you practise:

Counting in 5’s BBC Bitesize lesson: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhfjqp3
Computing - Work through the challenges on the 2Code – Turtle game. I have set this as a 2do. Your task is to programme the Turtle to move around the screen. Although the weather has turned a bit miserable, remember to keep yourself as active as possible!
Have a wonderful day!
