Year Two - keep smiling!

Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning Year Two! I hope that you are all well, and that you had a great day yesterday. You are doing so well with your home learning…keep up the good work! Today is supposed to be another sunny day, so make sure that you get outside as much as you can!

Think back to when we made our rafts during Science Week. Today, or over the weekend, you could have a go at designing and making your own raft. Ask an adult to help you find different materials that you can use, such as empty bottles/containers, cardboard boxes, straws and lollipop sticks. Be creative! When you have completed your raft, ask an adult to help you test if it floats. Test how much weight it can hold before it sinks (you could use coins, Lego bricks, marbles etc. for this). Have fun!

Activities for today!

English – take a look at the spelling resources on Purple Mash.

- today I want you to continue working on your adventure story. Yesterday, you designed the main character for your story. For today, I would like you to think about where your main character is going to go on their adventure. Maybe they go to space, to a rainforest, underwater, to a desert, to the North Pole, or to a castle. It’s up to you! There is a writing frame on the class handouts page to help you.

Maths – logon to Numbots and TT Rock Stars.

- have a go at measuring different objects in the house/garden. You could use a ruler or a tape measure. You could also measure using lots of the same object, e.g. how many Lego bricks measure the same as a book? How many pencils measure the same as the table? How many 2p coins measure the same as a shoe?

Have a wonderful day, Year Two! Make sure that you rest over the weekend, and do lots of the things that you enjoy. I will upload some more activities for you to complete on Monday.
